Time And Time Again

It’s good to be home. I really missed my BFF cats. They missed me also as they have been so sweet upon our return!

Clarice is becoming more affectionate  as she gets older. I love this beauty!
Big changes are coming soon. Zoe returns to school next week. She will be starting her last year of middle school. Granddaughter Alissa might be going home soon to her Mom! This will free me up to figure out what to do next with my life!

My Dad’s wife has decided to go back to Ohio where she and Dad used to live. I totally understand her need to do that now that Dad is gone. While visiting her in Tucson,She gave me this vase. I guess my Dad had given my Gram/ (his Mom) this vase when he was a teenager. It is unique for sure!
I had given my Dad this clock when I was a teenager. He was traveling internationally often and this seemed so appropriate for him. He was touched by this gift and now I’m touched to have it back!

It will always remind me of my father and his many accomplishments. Awww how I miss him. He would be celebrating 90 in Aug. had he not passed in Feb.
I’m looking forward to some quiet time to regroup and get myself together as this has been a tough year for me. Lots of disappointing moments. Just a real struggle!

Starr Pass Resort We Are Coming!

Starr Pass Resort here we come!  Can’t wait! We save all year for this three night staycation/ vacation. We love the charm of this place! Hydration stations all over the grounds make drinking water so appealing. Any kind of infused water you can think of they have. I love this about Starr Pass Resort in Tucson. We live in the lazy river and by the third day our shoulders are so baked that we wear a t-shirt over our swimsuits to avoid the intense Tucson sun.  The food is good and poolside service is a nice way to eat lunch. The breakfast buffet is exceptional. Watching Javelina run around on property in the early morning hours from the balcony is so indicative to the Southwest! We love that this Resort has nightly live music. Tequila shots at sunset. You can roast smores over the fire while listening to music in the evenings. So many charming amenities!

Your Input Is Requested!

I’ve determined that I could use help in choosing my cover songs. I have cover songs on my channel currently that hold a special meaning to me. I am asking you to help me choose songs that I can cover that the general public will enjoy! I have too many obscure songs that most people are unfamiliar with on my channel. I am looking to improve and grow! So I’m taking requests!

If you can think if any songs that you think might really be a good fit for me please leave your suggestion in the comments. I will get back to you with a link in which to view the finished cover!

I do so appreciate your participation!

Thanks,

Tyna

My Hide In Your Shell Cover

I just finished the Facebook cover video of this, here is the link…

Click here on this link.➡️ Hide In Your Shell written by Roger Hodgson.

I was able to finish my cover of Hide In Your Shell written by Roger Hodgson. I have been sick with a nasty cold and still have the tail end of it. My voice isn’t quite up to par but I decided that I can’t spend my life trying to achieve perfection because I won’t…good enough for a cover artist who has yet to see a dime for anything I have covered lol. I do however feel that I truly understand this song now. It’s, difficult and complex in both the keyboard and vocals. It was so much fun to do though! Thank you Roger Hodgson for this beautiful jewel in music history!

I have these last notes regarding this cover. I cover this with sincere adoration and admiration for the composer. I  have enjoyed and studied this song for years with many tears shed. It was important for me personally to attempt to do this cover song. I want to know you Roger.

Our Day Trip To Sedona, AZ

image

We decided to do  an impromptu day trip to Sedona yesterday. Sedona is about a two hour drive from Phoenix so I don’t know why we don’t go more often! It’s up in to mountains so it’s much cooler. We ran into a thunderstorm on the way. Lots of water came down very quickly. It’s monsoon season and that is common in the afternoon hours. Storms are isolated and short lived. This one lasted 15 minutes or so.

We enjoyed visiting the little shops along the way

My 4th Of July Facebook Cake

image image imageI had fun making this cake for the 4th of July! This recipe was going around on Facebook and at least two of my Facebook friends made and posted pics of thier version of this cake. That was kind of fun to see and be apart of. Just goes to show you the impact of social media. I can see making this cake in different colors for G-kids B-days . It’s an EASY cake.

I wonder how many people made this cake after having seen this recipe in Facebook? What an influence Facebook has on our daily lives.

Oh Geez Another Sneeze Pass The Damn Kleenex Please!

It’s bad enough to have a summer cold but I’m chomping at the bit to record my latest cover song. I was working on a few rough spots/ transitions really. I had it pretty ironed out and I was about ready to record the song on SoundCloud when it, hit me!  The fingers are willing and able but the voice not so much… I’m working on the most awesome Roger Hodgson song called “Hide In Your Shell”. If you have never heard this song then you are missing out! I was a teen when this song first became part of me. I don’t know why I never tried to play it then. I suppose I thought it too difficult to do. It’s very complex and vocally challenging for an alto like me.

In my late 20’s and early 30’s, this song helped me through some of my darkest years. I could identify with this song on such a personal level. Maybe because the lyric suggests that you aren’t alone in your darkest hours? Possibly the idea that someone else can really relate to your struggles and understand you? Or maybe it’s the notion that someone could desire to really know you that is comforting. I have shed many tears over the years while listening to this song!IMG_0189

I spent a decade of my life in divorce hell. I was a single Mom raising three beautiful girls, taking care of my mother who was ill. My ex -husband was always taking me to court to try to gain custody of the kids to get out of having to pay child support. It was grueling and damned expensive and it took a decade and thousands of dollars to resolve!  Just a living hell!!! Anyway, this song helped me through. I suppose it rather gives you permission to let down and let go of pent up emotions and struggles.  I appreciated it then, beyond words…

Now here I am in my 50’s and I find that this song allows me to feel hopeful inspite of  painful loss of many family members throughout the years. So, it really is a hopeful and inspiring song! Having said all of this, I hope to do the song justice to the best of my ability. When I finish this project, I will have a sense of peace!

I thought about doing a montage of Roger Hodgson songs and posting them to my Facebook page. I would love to thank this man, (in my own way), for his brillant compositions/ contributions to music history.  Who am I ? Just a fan with an appreciation for every nuiance and inflection in his music.

So I would say this to Roger Hodgson if I could, I want to know you!
